150,000 Workers Support Senator Akaka
HONOLULU??€" The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) has endorsed Senator Dan Akaka in his bid for reelection for the U.S. Senate. The NASW represents over 150,000 professional social workers nationwide, including a Hawaii Chapter. The organization extended its support of the Akaka "in light of (his) commitment to the well-being of individuals, families, and communities."
"I am honored and humbled by the endorsement of this organization, whose members know first-hand the daily hardships facing our families and communities," Akaka said. "I salute them for the work they do and will continue to support their efforts in the field with legislation that strengthens our nation's social services safety net."
Senator Akaka has served the people of Hawai??€˜i in the nation??€™s capital for the past 30 years. Seeking his 3rd full term in the U.S. Senate, Akaka is now a Ranking Member on the Veterans' Affairs Committee, the Armed Services Subcommittee on Readiness and Management, the Energy and Natural Resources Subcommittee on National Parks Historic Preservation and Recreation, and the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Subcommittee on Federal Government Management, the Federal Workforce and the District of Columbia.
To date, Senator Akaka has been endorsed by U.S. Senators Daniel K.
