SENATOR AKAKA VISITS HELEMANO PLANTATION FOR THE MOON FESTIVAL
HONOLULU??€" Senator Dan Akaka will visit Helemano Plantation on Thursday, September 21 at 10 a.m. for the Moon Festival, a health and wellness fair for senior citizens.
Senator Akaka has served the people of Hawai??€˜i in the nation??€™s capital for the past 30 years. Now seeking his 3rd full term in the U.S. Senate, Akaka is a Ranking Member on the Veterans' Affairs Committee, the Armed Services Subcommittee on Readiness and Management, the Energy and Natural Resources Subcommittee on National Parks Historic Preservation and Recreation, and the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Subcommittee on Federal Government Management, the Federal Workforce and the District of Columbia.

NATIVE HAWAIIANS FOR AKAKA
HONOLULU ??€" Leaders from various Native Hawaiian organizations will hold a press conference at noon tomorrow, Wednesday, September 20 at the Akaka in 2006 headquarters to encourage Native Hawaiians and the public to vote for Senator Dan Akaka this Saturday.
The organizations will be expressing their mahalo to Senator Akaka for his past work on behalf of Native Hawaiians and also sharing their mana??€™o on why they support Senator Akaka over Ed Case.

SENATOR AKAKA AND FAMILY CAST THEIR VOTES
HONOLULU ??€" Senator Dan Akaka and his family headed to the polls this afternoon to cast their votes in the Primary Election.
??€œI voted today in hopes to continue to serve the great people of Hawaii,??€ ? said Senator Akaka. ??€œI humbly ask for your vote this Saturday and encourage everyone to head down to the polls.??€ ?
Senator Akaka was joined by his wife Millie, sons Gerard and Nick Akaka and daughter-in-law, Belinda Akaka.
??€œI am proud of all that my dad has done for Hawaii and the country while serving in the U.S. Senate,??€ ? said Gerard Akaka. ??€œHe is a not a man who talks about his accomplishments but simply does what he needs to do to get the job done.??€ ?

SENATOR AKAKA EXTENDS HIS APPRECIATION TO SUPPORTERS AT FAMILY DAY EVENT
HONOLULU ??€" More than 1,000 people showed their support for Senator Dan Akaka today at McKinley High School for the Akaka Family Day celebration.
"I was overwhelmed by the support and aloha from everyone who attended," said Senator Akaka. "I wanted to have an event where people could bring their ohana and have a good time."
The event was free and open to the public and featured performances by Sean Na'auao, Kapena, Krush, Danny Couch, the Akaka Ohana and Brickwood Galuteria. The festivities also included keiki inflatables, games, crafts, prizes and other family activities. Community organizations such as the Hawaii Governemnt Employees' Association (HGEA), International Longshore & Warehouse Union (ILWU), United Public Workers (UPW), Lawyers for Akaka and Progressive Democrats of Hawaii (PDH) also hosted booths with information and games for keiki.

MORE THAN 250 LAWYERS ENDORSE SENATOR AKAKA
HONOLULU- Lawyers from around the state have pledged their support for Senator Akaka in the upcoming election for the U.S. Senate. A statement by Lawyers for Akaka reads: ??€œAs attorneys, [they] are particularly mindful of choosing courageous leaders who embrace the concepts of justice and fairness.
