Honolulu ??€" Senator Dan Akaka expressed his appreciation to the Sierra Club Hawaii Chapter for its endorsement of his re-election to the U.S. Senate, and promised to continue to work toward building a sustainable Hawaii.

Senator Akaka Rallies Support for the Democratic Vote
Families enjoy fun, food and entertainment at the Ohana Rally
Honolulu ??€" Senator Dan Akaka and his fellow Democratic candidates rallied together in support of the Democratic vote at the Akaka in 2006 Ohana Rally last night. About 200 supporters enjoyed an intimate gathering of good food, entertainment and fun at Noelani Elementary School.
Senator Akaka was joined by Congressman Neil Abercrombie, Senator Brian Taniguchi, Senator Carol Fukunaga, Representative Scott Nishimoto, Representative Kirk Caldwell, Councilwoman Ann Kobayashi and Democratic State House candidates Mike Abe and Della Au Belatti.

Senator Earns a Perfect Score on Tax Vote Assessment
Honolulu ??€" The Citizens of Tax Justice (CTJ) recently presented Senator Dan Akaka with the ??€œTaxpayers??€™ Friend??€ ? Award for receiving a perfect score on his Congressional Tax Report Card. Senator Akaka was one of only 19 in the U.S. Senate, and among 157 of 535 members of Congress to receive this award.
??€œI am honored to be recognized for my votes against tax cuts for the very rich,??€ ? said Senator Akaka. ??€œOur country is suffering from increasing federal debt. We need to reverse the current course of the Bush Administration??€™s fiscal policies and prevent further debt increases caused by tax cuts enacted since President Bush took office.??€ ?
