The serious abuses that Senator Daniel Akaka has consistently confronted are far from minor to the nation's consumers ("Master of the Minor," April 24, 2006). Akaka has become one of the Senate's most effective consumer champions by quietly and creatively taking on powerful interests others will not challenge.

The men and women of the American military are serving magnificently. They represent so much that is great about America, and we should be proud of them. But too often in Washington, some people forget that our obligation to them doesn't end when they take off their uniform.

HONOLULU - In response to the National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU) endorsement of his candidacy for the U.S. Senate, Senator Dan Akaka expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the NTEU's support for his re-election to the U.S. Senate.

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, Assistant Minority Leader Dick Durbin and Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Chair Chuck Schumer today endorsed their colleague, Senator Daniel Akaka, in his Senate reelection campaign.
